When you walk into the Queens Head the first things you see are the cask beer pumps. Every ale we serve is from a local Sussex brewer, and the choice changes with the seasons.
Can’t decide? Check out the tasting notes or ask one of our helpful, knowledgeable barstaff. They’ll even give you sample to try.
Most importantly, we’re proud of our ales and you can be sure that whichever one you choose will be in perfect condition and give you a true taste of Sussex.

Bee Head 4.6%
Honey coloured golden ale. Winner of South Downs and Eastbourne CAMA festivals. Full bodied smooth bitter with a gentle hint of honey to look for but not overpowering.

Lamas Ale 4.2%
Light Amber clear and bright. Brewed with malted barley, Hops and Wheat.

Signature 4.4%
Very pale and crisp the colour of Summer. Award winning. A pleasing barly flavour on the front and a suprising dry bitter taset at the back of the mouth after swallowing.
Hepworth & Co Brewers

Iron Horse 4.8%
This is a premium bitter handcrafted from a complex grist of roasted malts and Sussex hops. Densely flavoured and very satisfying. The crystal malt gives a caramel sweetness.

Molly Malone Stout 4.5%
A sumptuous Sussex stout where the roasted barley characters are complimented with a toffee character from the crystal malt. Balanced with bitterness from Sussex grown Admiral hops, Molly Malone is simply a feast of flavour.

Prospect Organic Pale Ale 4.5%
Traditionally brewed using organically grown malt and Admiral and Golding hops. This gives a good bitter character balanced by a small amount of crystal malt.

Pullman 4.2%
A First Class bitter with a crisp fresh bite balanced with a long silky finish. Long on flavour with a good hop nose, Pullman is a luxurious ale to be appreciated on its own or with fine food. Brewed using Sussex grown Admiral & Golding hops.

Summer Ale 3.8%
A light summer beer brewed with Sussex grown Challenger hops to make a refreshing beer with sunshine locked into it.

Sussex 3.5%
Flavoursome light brew using Goldings hops from Bodium, East Sussex. This gives a full flavour with a traditional Sussex hoppy nose to the beer. Brewed with Sussex grown barley malt as well. Truly Sussex.
Kissingate

Storyteller 3.5%
Very light Chardonnay in colour. Simple lemony / piney notes derived from Summit hopping. A tangy, refreshing session beer.

Kissingate Best 4.0%
Pleasant fruity notes with a slightly dryer finish. Gentle and gathering bitterness derived from Cascade hopping.

Black Cherry Mild 4.2%
Powerful flavours of pale and amber malts are balanced with the resinous bitterness and herbal characteristics of Amarillo and Cascade hops.

Chennai Premium IPA 5.0%
Powerful flavours of pale and amber malts are balanced with the resinous bitterness and herbal characteristics of Summit and Cascade hops.

First Kiss 5.1%
A careful infusion of Challenger hops and bay produce a citrus tang. Deep and complex malt flavours and a lasting biscuit aftertaste.
Dark Star

Hophead 3.8%
Pale golden ale, strong floral aroma and elderflower notes from the Cascade hops. Small on ABV, big on taste.

American Pale Ale 4.7%
American style pale ale crafted with Cascade, Centennial and Chinook hops. Full of the aroma of hops.

Old Chestnut 4.0%
A dark mellow beer with a hint of burnt smoky sweet flavour and restrained bitterness from the Golding Hops. Brewed with a mixture of grist including chocolate malted barley.

Sunburst 4.8% (available from May to August)
A dark mellow beer with a hint of burnt smoky sweet flavour and restrained bitterness from the Golding Hops. Brewed with a mixture of grist including chocolate malted barley.

Summer Meltdown 4.8% (May)
Well-balanced, golden bitter with the warm flavour of Chinese stem ginger and other spices. The perfect thirst quencher for a summer’s evening.

Saison 4.5% (July)
Our rip-off take on the classic Belgian farmhouse ale. The specially imported Saison yeast that ferments to dryness and provides a distinctive flavour.

Hylder Blonde 4.2% (September)
A delicate and lightly hopped beer with the fresh fruitiness of The South Downs elderflower, which is added after the boil to preserve their delicate aroma.
Langham

Halfway to heaven 3.5%
A tasty and surprisingly full falvoured 3.5%. Chestnut coloured beer with a biscuit maltiness and fruity hop character with a hint of spice. (Silver medal winner SIBA SE 2009)

Hip Hop
Our best selling blonde. Double W Sussex CAMRA award winning beer of the festival, and SIBA SE silver medal winner 2011 A blonde beer, clean and crisp, loaded with floral hop aroma. The pale malt flavour is overtaken by a pleasing dry and bitter finish. (Also available in bottles)

LSD 5.2%
A Superb strong bitter at 5.2%! Auburn beer with rich complex flavours and a deep red glow; sweet maltiness is balanced by spicy hop aromas and a dry finish. (Silver medal winner SIBA SE 2008 and 2009 and Gold Medal 2010 -also available in bottles)

Festiv-ale 3.9%
Award winning blonde ale (Chichester Real Ale and Jazz Festival 2009 and 2011) with a blend of English and American hops giving a slightly spicy floral blend with a hint of grapefruit. Well bittered with a clean dry finish. A fantastically refreshing summer pint. Available from Summer Equinox.

Flor-ale 3.8%
SW Sussex CAMRA beer of the festival 2011! A delectable light blonde, with delicate floral hop notes, using only Maris Otter low colour malt. Pleasant sweet finish. Perfect springtime refreshment.

Langham Best Bitter 4.5%
A classic! Tawny coloured best bitter with well balanced malt flavours finished with a hint of currant and a slightly spicy, sweet aroma.
